Oshkosh Youth Baseball (OYB) has scheduled its Travel Team tryout dates and times for the 2017 summer season.  Tryouts are scheduled to take place on Saturday August 27th and Sunday August 28th:

8U (coach pitch)  from 9 am to 11 am at Red Arrow Park on Saturday August 27th
9U (kid pitch)  from Noon to 2 pm at Red Arrow Park

An additional tryout date is scheduled for Sunday August 28th:
10U-12U  from 10 am to Noon at Red Arrow Park
13U and 14U from 1 pm to 3 pm at Valley Christian School

Please plan to arrive approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled tryout time.

You must  pre-register by email to    Please include your child’s name, DOB, grade and which age group they are trying out for.  Pre-registration helps OYB better plan for the tryout.
There is no cost to try out.

If your child can not attend the tryout for his designated age group, please notify Paul Frey at  ahead of time.  You do need to pre-register or provide pre-tryout information if your child attends the tryout date designated for his age group.

Ideally, OYB would like to have two teams at each age level.  Travel teams will likely practice twice a week in addition to weekend tournaments, mostly within approximately one hour travel time.  Occasionally some tournaments may require a greater travel distance.   The number of tournaments a team does is decided by each coach.  There may be some flexibility in the number of tournaments a player chooses to participate in.

Please also be advised that for the most part, the level of competition experienced at the Travel level is significantly more advanced than what is generally seen in YMCA league play.  While all kids are invited and encouraged to attend these tryouts, please understand that the Travel program is designed for kids who may be more advanced at their particular ages and are interested in competing against other similar kids.

All kids will be evaluated over a variety of skills and additional emphasis will be placed on behavior, the ability to listen and follow directions and HUSTLE.

All kids should bring a glove, hat, helmet, baseball shoes or cleats, catcher’s gear, water or drink and anything else they may need.  All kids are responsible for their own equipment and OYB shall not be liable for any lost, stolen or misplaced equipment.  Please have your child’s name on all equipment to ease in relocating any misplaced items.

Lastly, the Travel program is looking for and in need of coaches.  OYB does not decide how many travel teams it will have at any age level until after the tryouts.  If you are interested in coaching in the Travel program in 2017, please notify Paul Frey at the email address listed herein.  Notification of interest does not guarantee that you will coach as the OYB board will assign coaches at all levels sometime this fall.
